"Leeuwen op de Coolsingel" (Lions on the Coolsingel) explores Rotterdam's history during and after the Second World War. Historical photographs, films, objects, and large-scale murals bring stories of the city and its inhabitants to life, including the remarkable tale of animals from Blijdorp Zoo roaming the streets after the bombing.
For this project, 17 island furniture pieces had to be engineered and built, incorporating display cases, bell jars, and integrated video screens. An even greater challenge was designing custom structural mounts and supports for the many tons of historical fragments from Rotterdam's old city, ensuring they could be safely displayed without compromising their integrity.
